'The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.’

In Swallow Class we enjoy our learning and each day is certainly full of highlights. We are a mixed class of Year 1 and Year 2 pupils. Children are immersed into lots of creative and cross curricular activities to support their learning and curiosity. They have access to a wide range of resources to support and deepen their learning, encouraging independence across the curriculum.
We follow the National Curriculum as set out by the government covering all subjects including Maths, English, Science, Art and Design Technology, Geography, History, RE, PE and Music.
A key focus of Year 1 is phonics and reading, which the school view as a priority. Towards the end of the academic year the children take the National Phonics Screening Test.
Towards the end of the academic year the Year 2 children take the End of Year 2 Assessments. The assessments are a tool for teachers to measure your child’s performance and identify their needs as they move into Key Stage 2. They also allow teachers to see how your child is performing against national expected standards.
We hope you find the information below useful. If you have any questions please do contact us.
