About Wren Class

Wren Class is our 'Rising 3' class. We take children in their academic years so children can form friendships that continue onto Sparrow class and beyond.

As we are situated on the John Moore Primary School site we are very lucky to have access to the Outdoor learning area, we have a weekly PE lesson in the school hall and we can play on the field after lunchtime. We have access to our own outdoor space and are outside in all weathers!

We focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment and focus on learning through play! We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework and we have a range of tools at our disposal to ensure children are meeting their educational needs.

We encourage children to explore and learn from the environment and have a half termly theme which includes by a weekly book to support our learning. We use lots of different materials in our play such as playdough, painting, glue, water, sand, mud and sometimes all of these in one day!

We use Famly as a tool for communication and sharing our successes with you. We can include grandparents or other family members if they wish to know what we are up to at Little Foxes!

Wren FAQs

  • We take children in their academic year after they turn 2. If you are unsure when your child can start with us please get in touch and we can let you know.

  • We do not expect your children to be potty trained. We are happy to discuss this with you and work with you when the time is ready. Before that we have a secure, private area for changing nappies.

  • If your child need a daytime sleep we have the facilities to arrange this. We have sleep pads and safe cotton bedding to use however we do not have a separate room for this, so non sleeping children will be playing outside or quietly indoors around the children.

  • All children will have a home visit/ or phone call with your Key Worker and/or Room Lead. We also will offer a play session and a settle session if needed. We find 99% of the children settle really well into life at Foxes but we will work with you if this is not the case.

  • We are currently unable to provide a meal at lunch. Children staying all day will need to being healthy varied lunchbox. Please note we do not allow nuts of any kind in the setting.
