Mrs Laing – Headteacher (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Mr Blakey- Deputy Headteacher and Part Time Year 5 Teacher (Deputy DSL)
I am Mr Blakey and I am the Deputy Headteacher. I also teach the Year 5 class on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I lead the KS2 team and mathematics across the whole school. I have been a teacher for nearly 20 years and really enjoy working with children to foster their love and enjoyment of learning as they strive to do their best. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, photography and amateur dramatics.
Mrs Philcox – Inclusion Manager
I am Mrs Philcox and I am the Inclusion Manager. My job is to look after the children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities. This includes children who are gifted and talented as well as children who need a bit of extra support to ensure that they make progress in school. Part of my job is to set up the interventions that take place in our school – these groups are designed to enable children to make rapid progress in a small group or 1:1 situation. I teach some of these groups. I have always wanted to be a teacher and I love my job! Outside of school, I love to read and enjoy eating the cakes that Mrs Alderman bakes and brings into the staffroom!
Mrs Alderman – Part Time Teacher in Year 1 and Foundation Stage Leader
I am Mrs Alderman and I teach the Year 1 class on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. As well as being a teacher I have other responsibilities at the school which include Foundation Stage leader, AfA Champion and Forest School Leader. I love teaching at the school and really enjoy the fact that no two days are the same and there is always something new to be discovered. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and baking cakes for others!
Miss Wyer – Teacher in Reception
My name is Miss Wyer and I teach the Reception class. I have a love of teaching in the Early Years. I love seeing the rapid progress in learning to read and write that children in the Reception year make. I am really enjoying my time at The John Moore Primary School. I am also currently responsible for DT and Art and Design across the school. Outside of school, I love borrowing a dog for a walk or cooking up something sweet in my kitchen.
Mrs Johnson – Part Time Teacher Year 1
My name is Mrs Johnson and I teach Year 1 on Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays. I love being around children and watching them learn, as I learn with them! Every day is different and exciting, which is why I enjoy my job so much. When I’m not at school I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my little boy and family – especially cooking for them.
Mrs Williams – Teacher Year 2 and Key Stage 1 Leader
Hi I’m Mrs Williams and I thoroughly enjoy being a teacher, supporting children with learning opportunities so they can be the best they can be. I am the Key Stage 1 Leader and class teacher in Year 2, having previously taught in Worcestershire for 21 years. I am really excited about working at The John Moore Primary School. I also have the responsibility of MFL and International Links. Outside school I enjoy spending time with my daughter, reading, painting and going to the cinema when I can!
Mrs Hodgson – Part Time Teacher Year 3HC
My name is Mrs Hodgson. I am a part-time teacher and I teach in Year 3HC with Mrs Cadman. We have two class teaching assistants, Mrs Holtham and Miss Ryan. I work on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I am responsible for leading Phonics and Music throughout the school. I have worked at this school for over 12 years. When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family. My hobbies include running, reading and going for country walks.
Mrs Cadman – Part Time Teacher Year 3HC
My name is Mrs Cadman. I am a part-time teacher, teaching in Year 3HC with Mrs Hodgson. I have worked at The John Moore Primary School for over 10 years. I am responsible in school for Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship (PSHCE) and Healthy Schools. When I am not working, my two children keep me very busy! I enjoy spending time with my family in the outdoors, going for walks or visiting beaches. When I get spare time, I enjoy listening to a variety of music, running and swimming.
Mrs Foster – Teacher Year 3F
Hello, My name is Mrs Foster and I teach Year 3F. I enjoy teaching Year 3 and having lots of fun with our learning. I also have other jobs in school including taking responsibility for History and Geography. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. When I am not busy at school or with my family I also like to paint and draw, play squash and go to the gym.
Miss Stephens – Teacher Year 4
I am Miss Stephens and I am the Y4 teacher. I have taught for ten years and am very excited to have joined The John Moore Primary School this year. In school, I am also responsible for PE. Outside of school, I spend lots of time with my friends and family. I also run and like being active. I have completed 4 half marathons, including one in Tewkesbury.
Mrs Hathaway – Part Time Year 5 Teacher
My name is Mrs Hathaway and I have worked at The John Moore Primary School for over 10 years. Currently I am a part time teacher, working on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I teach Year 5 with Mr Blakey. I am also responsible for English and absolutely love to see the development of children’s writing as they progress through the school. On a Monday and Tuesday I teach in Year 5 and on a Wednesday I teach intervention groups from across the school. Outside of school, my two young children keep me very busy. I have always had a love of animals especially dogs and horses, although I now tend to watch equestrian competitions rather than entering them!
Miss Man – Teacher Year 6
I am Miss Man and I teach the Year 6 class. I joined The John Moore Primary School in September 2014. I’ve lived in Hong Kong for a few years and while over there, I traveled to New Zealand and did a tandem skydive over Lake Taupo. Outside of school, I enjoy trips to the cinema and I like to sample different cuisines.
Miss Madge – Part Time Teacher
My role in the school is a P.P.A. teacher, which means that when the class teacher has time out of the classroom to plan, prepare and assess, I step in. Before settling at John Moore, I worked as a class teacher, first in Yorkshire, in Knaresborough and Leeds, and then in Italy, in Padua and Milan.The best part about my current job is that I work with all the age groups and I enjoy watching the children’s development as they move through the school. When I am not in school, I enjoy going out and about with my family and friends and I especially enjoy everything and anything to do with Italy.
Mrs Bates – Part Time Teacher
My name is Mrs Bates and I joined The John Moore Primary School in September 2014 as a PPA Teacher. I really enjoy working in different classes and teaching children of all different ages. My favourite subject is music and I love singing and playing the piano. I also like going running in my spare time. My husband, my son and I recently moved to Cheltenham from London where I was a teacher for 7 years, so we like to spend the weekends exploring our new local area.
